Cyprus Rugby National Team wins its last match of the season

The obligations of the Cyprus Rugby Team for the period 2016 – 2017 have been completed, with the completion of its last game during the 2nd European Tournament on Sunday in Bucharest, where the national team beat the Czech Republic (22-5) and won the cup.

According to an announcement, after a difficult season, the most difficult in the times of the national team, with defets in the last minutes of major matches against Israel and Croatia in Pafiakos, the players did their duty and earned a title to end the season positively.

With a little luck in the draws, the team could also have had a better final ranking, but unfortunately the team faced Sweden – who won the first place in both tournaments conducted this year, beating Romania, the home team, twice. The fact that rugby is now an Olympic sport seems to have led countries, that were not traditionally strong, to invest in it and the results are now visible.

The new season, starting in November, will find the national team facing the teams of Serbia, Slovakia, and Austria. The aim of the team will be to return to the Southern European Region category 1.
